The Mental Welfare Commission - visit to Shetland
A team from The Mental Welfare Commission are visiting Shetland 30th August to 1st September 2023.
The Commission helps protects the rights of people with mental illness, learning difficulties, autism, dementia and related conditions.
One of the key ways they find out if people's rights are being met is by speaking with people and their carers. Carers or relatives can make contact with the team whilst they are in Shetland or via their telephone advice line 0800 389 6809 - and they can give advice on rights to do with mental health and incapacity law, and care and treatment.
They cannot advise on specific legal advice, comment on whether a diagnosis or medication is correct, or take complaints about services.
If any carers would like to speak to the team regarding the care or treatment their relative or friend is receiving in Shetland, they can contact Lesley Paterson on 0131 313 8777 or via enquiries@mwcscot.org.uk and either Lesley or a colleague will get in touch with you.
Further information of who the team are and what they do can be found on their website: www.mwcscot.org.uk
