Short Breaks Grants still available

The Carers’ Link Group still has money available from Shortbreaks Scotland - allowing us to offer carers in Shetland the chance to benefit from a short break from their caring role. This is available to anyone caring for an adult who has not received a grant during this grant period.

Providing short breaks for carers and the people they care for is now widely accepted as vital to sustaining the caring relationship and the health and wellbeing of carers.

We can offer offer up to £150 per carer (on production of invoice or receipt), towards your chosen holiday, activity or therapy.

Make a Request - it's Easy

1) Call Karen Hannay at VAS to obtain an application and to discuss the different options available to you (01595 743923) or you can use the online form by clicking the 'Short Break Form' button at the top of this page.

2) Register with the confidential VAS carers database. This enables us to record that you are a carer and send you any new carer information.

3) Once VAS has received your completed application form they will either book your short break choice or send out a cheque.

After Your Short Break

All that we ask from you is that you complete this EVALUATION FORM telling us about your Short Break. This helps us to monitor the success and take-up of the project and make improvements where necessary.

If you requested a financial amount to use to make your own short break arrangement then you must remember to keep receipts for anything purchased. Copies of these receipts go to Karen Hannay at Voluntary Action Shetland to keep the project account correct.
