SHORT BREAK GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR CARERS
OUR SHORT BREAK GRANTS HAVE NOW ALL BEEN ALLCOATED FOR 2019-2020. WE HOPE TO HAVE FUNDS AVAILABLE AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2020.
Shared Care Scotland (SCS) are keen to ensure the Short Breaks Fund is responding to the Covid-19 outbreak situation. Over the next 4 months - from now to the end of July/beginning August - Time to Live age restrictions are being relaxed so that grants can now be used to support parent carers, as well as carers of adults and young carers. (Previously this grant was only available to carers of someone age 21 years or over).
We want grants to enable carers, and the people they care for, to have a ‘break’, i.e. some time-out from their regular domestic and caring routines. This will help promote good health and well-being.
With lockdown restrictions and closure of services, we want to encourage carers to use their grants even more 'creatively' to support activities that can be undertaken in the home or, where available, the garden e.g. purchasing board games, subscriptions to movie channels, magazine subscriptions, gardening tools, PC gaming equipment, Kindle readers or tablets, online music tuition, etc. Whatever activity allows you time off to relax and unwind.
