RemoAge Public Launch Event

A launch event will be held in Yell tomorrow (Thursday 18th Aug) to launch an exciting new project.

RemoAge is an EU funded project. It explores new ways of providing support for frail, elderly or older people, also for people living with dementia. As well as Shetland, similar projects are underway in Sweden, Norway and the Western Isles.

Participants and volunteers will be invited to take part in an 18 month trial covering Yell, Unst and Fetlar. The RemoAge project will introduce the use of technology such as ipads, to help support people to remain as independent as possible within their own homes and communities. It is also hoped that technology will help folks to stay in touch with family and friends and their own community, or to ‘attend’ events, appointments and activities from the comfort of their own home.

You are welcome to come along to this event at the Mid Yell Hall at 1.30pm on Thursday 18th August. There will be a short presentation and an opportunity to ask questions and explore the technology. Or just drop in before 3.00pm.
