Trainee Social Worker Joins the Team

Shetland Carers welcomes MSc Social Work student Louie Gray, who studies at Robert Gordon University, to the team as he undertakes 80-day placement in Shetland's third sector.

As of 14th March, the Shetland Carers team now includes a fresh-from-university MSc Social Work student, Louie Gray. Originally from Lerwick, Louie first gained a degree in psychology at the University of St Andrews before working in various private, public and third sector organisations upon graduation in 2018. Three years later, between jobs and looking for a social services role with more responsibility, he chose to pursue a career in social work via Robert Gordon University's Master of Social Work programme. Fast forward 1 year, and he joins us for his first 80-day placement.

In the next 4 months, Louie will be helping the team by making contact with many of our registered carers to offer ongoing support and advice. Additionally, he will be taking the lead on preparations for Shetland Carers Week 2022 which will involve a variety of events around the isles aimed at engaging and uniting those who have full- or part-time unpaid caring roles.
