Young Carers Service
Our Young Carers Support Worker, Laura Mackenzie is on maternity leave and will be back at the beginning of 2024. At the moment we do not have the maternity cover position filled so during this interim period the service will be paused.
What does that mean for the service?
The service will be on hold and the usual support, i.e. groups, 1-1 meetings, network partnership meetings will not be available.
What Shetland Carers can offer is;
* Access to information and advice services, short break grants and respitality
* Support to complete a Young Carers Grant for 16,17, 18 years old (Citizens Advice Bureau)
* Support to register for a Young Scot Card with additional support package for young carers (11 – 18 years old) (Schools/Youth Service)
What if I am still in education?
Speak to a teacher/tutor or a person you trust about your situation. They should be able to support you in your caring role within school.
Is there other people/services I can speak to?
Family
Local GP/Health Centre
Social Work
