Carers Week 2021
This year, Carers Week runs from 7th - 13th June 2021. The theme is "Making Caring Visible and Valued."
During Carers Week 2021, Shetland Carers is inviting health and care services, schools, employers and businesses across the community to recognise the vital contribution made by unpaid carers in Shetland. During the week, Shetland Carers hope to raise the profile of unpaid carers and try to identify hidden carers who are not currently receiving support.
Shetland Carers want to support and empower unpaid carers to manage their caring role and have a life alongside caring.
Again, due to Covid-19, Shetland Carers have had to consider different ways of delivering activities and events during Carers Week. We hope you'll be able to join us each day for an online or face to face break in some, or all, of the following events:
All week - 'Cuppa and Cake' available FREE for carers and a companion at Fjara cafe. You should let Fjara staff know that you wish to use the offer before you order, and you will be asked to provide your contact details as well. The offer is open to new carers too - and Shetland Carers will contact you afterwards with further information about our service.
Monday 7th June - Friday 11th June - We would like to invite you to take part in our 'Take a Break' competition! All you need to do to be entered into our prize draw, is to send us a photo or picture of how you like to take a break! You don’t have to be in the photo unless you wish to.
We’d love to see how you enjoy taking a break at home. This could be anything from reading, cooking, painting, swimming, cycling, walking, having a cuppa, gardening, whatever!
Photos can be sent in either by emailing [email protected] or send it via private message on our Facebook page:
A winner will be chosen at random, and the winning photo will be displayed on our Facebook page after 5pm on Friday 11th June. Good luck!
