Carers Scotland 'Being Heard' - a self-advocacy guide for carers
Carers Scotland is part of Carers UK, the national membership charity for unpaid carers. They are there to listen and to give carers expert information and tailored advice.
This self-advocacy guide
Carers Scotland understand the many challenges that caring brings. This guide has been developed to help anyone with caring responsibilities gain confidence to understand their rights, communicate effectively with professionals and recognise how to be heard.
What is self-advocacy?
Caring can be rewarding but also very isolating. You may not know what help to ask for, how to ask, or indeed who to ask. Self-advocacy is about being heard as well as speaking up for the person you care for. This guide provides practical guidance on how to get your voice heard when you care for someone in what may be complicated and challenging circumstances.
