CARER SUPPORT PAYMENT - PRESENTATION AND WORKSHOP
Shetland Carers has been contacted by some researchers from the Scottish Government, part of the Social Security Directorate, who will be travelling to Shetland on Tuesday 18th April 2023.
PRESENTATION AND WORKSHOP
The researchers have planned a presentation and workshop on Friday 21st April 2023 at Islesburgh Community Centre to discuss the new benefit that will replace Carer’s Allowance – Carer Support Payment, and they would encourage you, if possible, to come along on the day to take part.
Please click HERE to see a poster about the event and click HERE to see some frequently asked questions regarding the presentation and workshop, along with a plan for the day. Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided at the event.
To register for this event, please text your name to 07789 584 701 or email amanda.brown@shetland.gov.uk Please also let us know of any dietary requirements or special arrangements that you require.
CARER INTERVIEWS
During their time in Shetland, the researchers are also very keen to interview some carers who find themselves digitally excluded, along with a few carers who currently receive Carers Allowance, as well as some who do not.
By digital exclusion they mean carers who may not have access to the internet, or have problems with their connectivity, or may lack the skills or devices to access the internet or may just prefer not to use the internet. The researchers are specifically interested in talking to digitally excluded carers as the application process for those carers for the new benefit may then be through a paper application form, and they would be keen to test these out with anyone who may apply this way.
The interviews may take either 60 minutes or 90 minutes and a voucher for a local supermarket will be given to anyone who takes part, as a thank you for your time.
Interviews will take place between Tuesday afternoon (18th April) and Friday evening (21st April) and can occur on Friday 21st April following the presentation and workshop, or on a different day in your own home if you wish or any other place where you feel comfortable.
If you are interested in taking part in the interviews, please contact Amanda Brown to note your interest by either emailing amanda.brown@shetland.gov.uk or telephoning 07342 895 928. Amanda will then pass on your name and contact details to the researchers so that they can get in touch with you to make further arrangements.
Thank you!
