CARERS RIGHTS DAY

FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER

To mark Carers Rights Day we are holding a drop in session at Market House from 11- 1 on Friday 25th November to provide an opportunity to find out information which could help you in your caring role. We will have information about our VAS Carers Support service as well as information about Self Directed Support, Telecare and Telehealth, Nutrition, Power of Attorney and other issues which are relevant for carers.  Gail Finnie, Welfare Rights Adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau will also available during the morning to provide advice about benefits including a description of the main benefits which usually apply to carers.  She can also provide a case study example of how CAB helped someone increase their income through benefit applications.

We will have available the new Carers Guide 2017 from Carers UK which is a great resource covers a wide range of issues.

For anyone who is unable to attend, but would like advice, we will also be hosting a live Question and Answer Session which can be viewed from at www.shetlandcarers.org/qa . This session can also be viewed after the event from this website.

We are also offering carers a chance to unwind by having a 20 min Indian Head Massage from Rosalyn Quarmby from Sleeping Beauty during the morning.  If you would like book a session or have any queries please contact Kirsten on 01595 743980 or at carers@shetland.org
